FitHead Mark, 2 years ago| FlagToo many of us are living way too stressful lives that can sap our energy and motivation. Sit down and figure out the biggest sources of stress in your life. They may come from work, personal relationsh ips, finances, or anywhere. Choose one of these and list all possible ways to eliminate or reduce the stress. Pick the strategy that feels best to you – it could be the easiest to get started with, it could be the one you know will have the most impact - and then take action on it. If that doesn’t seem to work, Just Adjust. Pick another strategy, and try that. After you’ve succeeded at reducing one source of stress, move on to the next. If you look at it as a series of small, well-coord inated steps you're far more likely to be successful than if you view it as one big, scary path.

I've heard so much about how success in fitness or sports depends on the mental part as much as the physical, but noone has ever explained how to get the mental part until the Fitheads came along. I feel like I have finally been let in on the big secret.

I decided to flip the just adjust, and just adjusted to NOT going. I know I'll pick it up tomorrow. Feels great being guilt-free. Moral of the story - if the weather sucks - the hell with it!

Are you parking as far away as you can in parking lots? Walk around the house before you come in when you get home. Get up and walk around your floor in the office once an hour. Pace the room if you're stuck in a meeting. Walk the terminal if you're stuck in an airport. You can probably think of a hundred things if you just give it a little thought. When I started I kept track of the ideas that work for me in a little journal. Helped me keep a focus on looking for opportunit ies to take a few more steps. I don't get 10000 steps in every day, but it's a rare day I dip under 8000. I can live with that.
